Will Prince Harry Experience the State of Nirvana?

Hope Prince Harry will experience nirvana. There been so many rebellious and iconoclastic Princes in world but the one who comes to the fore of my skull is Siddhartha Gautama. Who lived in 5th Century BC. Gautama (The Buddha, the founder of Buddhism) was a young prince born into immense wealth in present day Nepal.

I presume he grew up living in a bubble of opulence and ease. Kept away from the day today business of the common people he became curious to know more and he decided to experience the life of ordinary folk.

That said he decided to give up his cushioned life as a Prince. At first he endured poverty, sleeping rough but that didn’t make him consider returning to his father like the parable of the Prodigal son, he was. This would have been the easiest thing to do when in need. Since living in abject poverty was hard for him he desired “Middle Way”. Meaning living between the two extremes. Metaphorically, a life without starters and deserts.

After six years of living this “Middle Way” life searching for his sense of purpose he is said to have found enlightenment while meditating under a Bodhi tree. Therefore it could be argued that the fundamental principle of Buddhism is that life is suffering. I explained on one of my previous blogs. After his, enlightenment The Buddha spent rest of his days teaching others about how to achieve the spiritual state like he did (Nirvana).

While Prince Harry is unlikely to venture the suffering route (never will he live in Westminster, London or Weston, Toronto) , hopefully he will experience enlightenment of some sort.

However the path the young prince and his Mrs want to chose is unprecedented basically they want to skip between two worlds like Alice in Wonderland.
