Spearmint: Zumbani- some say it cures COVID-19

Spearmint is a species of mint Mentha Spicata native to Europe and southern temperate Asia, extending from Ireland in the west to southern China in the east. It is naturalized in many other temperate parts of the world, including northern and Southern Africa, North America & Southern America. It is used as a flavouring in food and herbal teas.

The mint is used to make Moroccan mint tea by simply boiling the leaves and adding sugar. I was born in Southern Africa, Zimbabwe were the mint is called zumbani, though it wasn’t widely used to make tea it was used for medicinal purposes to cure fever. To a lesser extent there Zumbani tea was brewed when I lived there. The tea has a refreshingly minty flavour and it’s caffeine free. It is high in potassium key for regulating blood pressure. Also it is rich in magnesium and iron.

The tea is widely used in Arab nations and the Northern African. The same regions are not badly hit by the pandemic. Maybe the spearmint reduces the severity of the pandemic.
